These are some fitness books that I recommend.
That's physical and mental fitness, thank you very much.
I thoroughly enjoyed these two "intelligent" fitness books by author Simon Waterson. [#intelligent_fitness]
Simon Waterson is a trainer to the stars: Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, etc. He talks a lot about his movie star clients. In his most recent book, he describes a (killer) 10 week workout program. Ironically, movie stars and 10 week programs are the least interesting things in these two books.
There's some great stuff here. Waterson lists lots of exercises and workout combinations that he uses in different situations. He also describes his (cool) 5-2 "Holy Grail" fitness program. He likes workouts that are kinetic and have lots of movement with little rest time. I really connected with Waterson's fitness philosophy or fun and sustainable fitness programs. A good read.
What would you pay to be 10% happier? Well, the book costs about 10 bucks, and it worked for me. In "10% Happier", author Dan Harris skillfully offers up his answer: meditation. [#ten_percent_happier]
This isn't a self-help book. It's the author's journey towards meditation, and Harris tells his story in a very entertaining fashion. It's a good read.
Dan Harris really helped me to make the same journey toward meditation and being "mindful". I definitely feel (more than) 10% happier as a result. It's also had a profound effect on how I workout. I have focus and am present doing my weight-lifting and cardio and all. It's all a more fun and rewarding experience as a result. That's a BIG advantage.
