Dumbbell shoulder press

VeryWellFit: "The dumbbell overhead press can be done in either a sitting or standing position and with dumbbells held horizontally at the shoulders or rotated in a hammer grip. You can use this exercise in any upper body strength workout." [ID: db_shoulder_press]

Instructions

First time: 10 reps, start with a low, manageable weight

Steps:

  1. Start position: Raise weights to just above your shoulders with palms facing out
  2. Exhale as you raise the weights above your head
  3. Pause briefly at the top of the motion
  4. Inhale and return the dumbbells to the shoulders

You can perform this exercise standing or sitting.

Progression: Add weight while maintaining your proper form and reps
